Hi Smokie,
Here's a link to an interesting blog that I thought you and your readers might enjoy: http://fuglyhorseoftheday.blogspot.com/

Their approach is much like yours - straight to the point.

And if I can put in a request, I'd love to read more frequent posts from you on your perspective (about horses, riders, equipment, facilities/pastures/fencing, re-enactments!, the weather . . .) Got any free time for more writing?

Smokie,
I enjoyed your interview with Rick Lamb so much! Your common sense approach for "regular" riders is refreshing, honest and right on the mark. I'll be ordering a few of your books to pass along to students and clients. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much Emily! I appreciate your feedback and it's nice to know that there is others under the same banner!
Regards Smokie

I read this book cover to cover in the first 24 hours! I laughed so hard but, it was like looking in a mirror. I can't believe that I've done so much wrong and am still alive!!! Oh my gosh, not only did I make all those mistakes once but, I turned around and did it again!!!! I wish I would have read this book before I bought my first 2 horses but, I still would have made the mistakes I made (I know myself by now and I should - at my age). Oh a great note, I still have my first 2 horses, they've been a real learning experience for me since between the two of them at the time I bought them combined, they only had a grand total of 6 rides on them and all those rides were on the second one!!! To be honest, my first horse went into about 70 days of training the day I bought her and I unraveled her in less than 7 days (green on green). However, we continue to learn together and I work really hard to get them right.
Thanks Smokie, I think I now know what I'll be giving out as Christmas Gifts this year! I really love horses!

What a great book for any horseperson. I sure wish I'd been able to read it before I bought my first horse. I bought a copy for a friend who wants to get her first horse, hoping it will help her avoid the mistakes I've made along the way. It is chock full of "horse sense" but as someone famous once said, "the problem with horse sense is the horses have most of it".

Read the book. loved it. and learbned a lot about the whys and hows. Very well written and it seems like your one of the greats. The cover completely matched what the book was about. it was easy to understand and you made it enjoyable to read. Its an honest book and it REALLY worked out for me. thank you so much and keep the books coming. I cant wait to see what comes next.
